Well I think I can safely say that summer has arrived. It is a miracle the sun is still shining here at Haddo “Wooohooo". The park has been very busy and everyone is enjoying this fabulous weather we have been experiencing. There have been picnics a plenty, barbeques sizzling and despite the on-going works, everyone seems to be having a fabulous time. But remember folks to slip, slap, slop on that sun cream!!!
Dogs Die In Hot Cars
Concerned members of the public have been reporting seeing distressed dogs left in cars during the recent spell of warm weather. We are keen to remind people that leaving a dog in a warm vehicle for even a short period of time can have serious consequences for both the dog and the owner.
Many people may realise that even on warm, cloudy days, cars can effectively turn into ovens. Leaving a window open and providing water is not enough. Being left inside a hot vehicle causes dogs to pant to try to cool down and this can lead to severe dehydration and hyperventilation which is extremely dangerous and dogs can overheat in minutes.
I cannot stress enough that leaving a dog in a car in warm weather is literally risking its life.

Riding for the Disabled Garioch Driving Group
The sun continued to shine on Wednesday the 3rd July when Riding for the Disabled (Garioch Driving Group) held their carriage driving event at Haddo. It was a lovely day, enjoyed by all who attended. I enjoyed meeting everyone (including the beautiful horses) and hope we will see you again next year.
There was a really good turnout for the small mammal trapping event, (run by NESBReC), they didn't catch a lot of mammals but a good time was had by all.
To book your place on the next NESBReC event (Butterflies & Moths ID) Sat 27th July 10.30am to 3pm contact Glenn Roberts at glenn.roberts@aberdeenshire.gov.uk or on Tel: 01224 273633
Thank You

Haven't they grown
I couldn't believe my eyes this week when I saw the baby swans, they really have grown. I don't think they will have any trouble negotiating the weir now.
Path Re-surfacing
The CHAP team made great progress on the re-surfacing of the paths. Most of the paths have now been resurfaced and are looking really good. However, there is still a bit to do and in the interests of public safety, some paths may be temporarily closed.
Visitors to the park are asked to take extra care on uneven surfaces and follow diversion signs. We apologise for any inconvenience, and thank visitors for their patience whilst these works take place.
For more information please do not hesitate to pop into the temporary office on the car park and have a chat or contact Teresa on 01651 851815 email Haddovso@btconnect.co
